The Cartagena Museums, protagonists of Science and Technology Week (12/11/2016)

The Ministry of Education and Universities, through the Séneca Foundation, celebrates in Cartagena different activities on Rome and the naval world, framed in the Week of Science and Technology of the Region of Murcia.

Specifically, during the weekend various didactic activities designed to be enjoyed in the family, which take place in three emblematic cultural sites: the Roman Theater Museum, the Municipal Archaeological Museum and the Naval Museum.

Thus, the museum of the Roman Theater hosts the workshop 'Build your Roman city', adapted for people with visual impairment and allows participants to take a trip to the past to see how the ideal city was shaped at that time;

All from the construction of a model of 63 pieces, in three dimensions, and with description in Spanish and Braille.

In the 'Visit to the Neighborhood of the Roman Forum' the most adventurous can become explorers for a day to discover, through clues and evidence, how the Romans enjoyed a break in the hot springs or a large banquet in the Atrium building , When night fell in Carthage Nova.

On the other hand, in the municipal archaeological museum there are two other activities: the didactic workshop 'The funerary world in antiquity.

The mysterious case of the Necropolis', to show - through audiovisual media and team games with detective methods - the importance of death in the study of History and Archeology.

In this activity it is emphasized that the customs and funeral rites characteristic of each town are loaded with symbolism and allow a better knowledge of their way of life, their values ​​and their thinking.

The activity 'The banquet of Apicius' reveals all the aspects related to the food and gastronomy of the Roman period.

For this, a guided tour of the permanent collection of the museum and a fun theatrical representation of a Roman banquet, in which reproduce the rites and customs of the typical dinner of a Roman patrician family.

In the naval museum of Cartagena, sea lovers can take a guided tour of their extensive collection and a temporary exhibition organized by the Spanish Institute of Oceanography on the occasion of the first centenary of the creation of Isaac Peral's submarine.

In addition, in the workshop of seafaring knots have the opportunity to know the types of knots and the techniques and procedures for their realization.

The director general of Universities and Research, Juan Monzó, stressed that "with these actions we bring the youngest and their families to cultural and educational facilities, to help them arouse interest in science and technology."
