The City of Cartagena, through the Area of ​​Infrastructures, which is directed by the mayor, José López, and at the request of the councilor of the area of ​​Quality of Life, Francisco Calderón, is carrying out the drafting of the project with which a portion of the Parque de la Rosa as a canine park, public space that will be used for the recreation of animals and where pets can exercise accompanied by their owners.

This will be the first of the four canine parks that the municipality plans to launch in the municipality in the coming months, which will be located, in addition to the Parque de la Rosa, in the Virgen de la Caridad neighborhood, Morería Baja and Parque Rafael de la Cerda, with the aim of promoting coexistence between people and animals.

According to Francisco Calderón, with this initiative, the local government focuses on its willingness to work to provide pets with exclusive recreation places where they can walk or run, always under the supervision and control of their owners, demonstrating with fact that we are concerned about animal welfare.

The Parque de la Rosa will be located on a plot currently without specific use, of about 2,500 square meters, at the confluence of Pedro Díaz and Carmen Conde streets.

This space, which will be fenced, will include the construction of an access door independent of the entrance to the Rose Park, so that they are differentiated, as well as an access corridor, planting of plant species, delimitation of an exercise space As well as a training area for dogs, with obstacles included, and a drinker.

The canine park, which will also have two different areas depending on the size of the dogs, will be governed by specific rules of use that will be detailed in a poster at the entrance of the area.

The preparation of the plot as a canine park will go to public competition in the near future and will have a budget that will be around 40,000 euros.

Its execution time is 30 days.
