On Saturday, November 12, the feast of the Virgin of the Rosell, canonical patron of Cartagena, will be celebrated with a solemn mass at 19:30 hours in the Church of Santa Maria de Gracia.
The religious ceremony will be presided by the vicar general of the diocese, Juan Tudela.
In it the mayor, Jose Lopez, will renew the perpetual vote to the Four Saints by part of the Municipal Corporation.
The origin of this promise comes from 1694 when a storm, known as the storm of Santa Catalina, endangered the city, being miraculously saved from being devastated and attributed its inhabitants to the intersection of San Fulgencio, San Isidoro, San Leandro and Santa Florentina, who had been entrusted.
The following year the Corporation decided to make an annual offering to the saints as thanksgiving.
This offering has been repeated uninterrupted since then, and for some years has been taking place framed in the celebration of the Virgin of Rosell.
Precisely after the Eucharist there will be an act of exaltation to the former patroness of the city, by the parish priest of San Antonio Maria Claret, Fernando Gutierrez Reche and a floral offering of the entities and associations of the city.
