The Roman Theater of Cartagena will host a National Congress for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage, which will deal with the Patrimonial aspect of the Oral Tradition in the 21st Century.
The congress will take place on 11, 12 and 13 November.
The mayor of Cartagena, José López, will attend the inaugural conference in which he will talk about cultured music of popular creation and that will be in charge of Salvador Martínez García.
The event will take place next Friday, November 11, at the Teatro Romano de Cartagena, starting at 19:00 hours.
The Spanish Federation of Folklore Associations, along with the Federation of Folkloric Associations of Murcia, intends with this event to end the old rhetoric of seeing folklore as a thing of the past, and although it is necessary to investigate, catalog, preserve, spread and transmit Our inherited culture, is to move towards the future, looking towards the new technologies of information and communication, which open a vast range of possibilities for us to continue working for the safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in a general way and specifically with The patrimonial aspect related to the music and traditional dance.
The congress was organized by FEAF and the Spanish Federation in the Region of Murcia, in collaboration with the City of Cartagena, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports (Inaem, Cultural Industries, IPCE, Cipe) , And the Ministry of Culture of the Region of Murcia.
During the conference there will be lectures on various topics of anthropology, ethnography, music, dance, methodologies, as well as workshops, round tables etc ...

More than a hundred congressmen from the world of folklore will travel to Cartagena, from Pontevedra, Cantabria, Palencia, Soria, Zamora, La Rioja, Teruel, Madrid, Barcelona, ​​Alicante, Albacete, Ciudad Real, Almería, Badajoz, Portugal and the rest of the Region of Murcia.
