Modernism has been featured in a weekend that has set back to Cartagena to the nineteenth and twentieth centuries with a multitude of activities that invaded the streets of the old town.

Modernista Market approached the citizens and visitors to another time when the city changed its buildings and its lifestyle.

Since last Friday, November 4 to Sunday 6 the streets of the old town changed the traditional medieval market to a new Modernista Market, on the occasion of the celebration of the Year of Modernism 2016 in Cartagena.

Organized by the City of Cartagena, the Culture and Heritage and the Department of Social Services, with the theme realization of the Solo Craftsmen Rivendell Association, this market holding Modernist Autumn, which will bring related to this historical stage activities adds until December to present the buildings of the city.

To acclimate the streets, a cabaret walked the city streets dancing typical dances of the time and many citizens were encouraged to wear the hat and go out to show their clothes with gloves, umbrellas and morning coats.

Among the activities there was a parade of horse-drawn carriages with modernist ambience that from the Cartagonova Stadium toured different streets to the Basilica of Charity, where a wreath to the patron took place and was attended by the mayor of Cartagena, Jose Lopez, and the councilor for the Quality of Life, Francisco Calderon.

In addition, there was a march bike the 20 hand of the Cultural Association of Friends of Music and traditions of Santomera.

Among the products on the market were were soaps, made with silver, sweets, breads and cheeses.

The shows were from aerobatics to falconry;

geese and geese rides through the streets of the market and camel rides.

In total, they have been 131 shows, children's activities and demonstration workshops of the trades of the time that have made Cartagena step back in time in celebration of this first market with modernist theme.
