The Mayor, Pilar Barreiro, accompanied by Council of Infrastructure and Tourism, José Vicente Albaladejo, Javier Herrero, and director of the Institute of Coastal Services, Gabriel Ruiz, has raised this morning in Playa Honda, and blue flag Q quality, recently awarded by the European Foundation of Environmental Education and Tourism Quality Institute of the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade, respectively, to this point the coast of Cartagena.
This event will mark the successive lifting of the other seven blue flags, and ten with the Q-granted quality in our town.
Barreiro has stressed that this is the first time that Honda gets the Q beach quality and as a result have made this visit to hoist the flag.
The mayor pointed out that this year has returned to Cartagena the town with more quality Q on the beaches by the high level maintenance and services provided in these sands.
The beaches that will fly this flag are Cala Cortina, Minor Outlying Islands, Playa Honda, Mar de Cristal, Cala del Pino, Cavanna Beach, Playa del Barco Perdido, Galúa Beach, Playa de Levante and Playa de la Gola.
Pilar Barreiro explained that the Q for Quality Flag is awarded annually by the Institute for Quality Tourism (ICTE) and requires not only that hold water and sand beaches clean, but to control the security services, rescue, leisure , information, cleaning, control of the bars and the hygienic conditions of the beaches and facilities, and therefore, Playa Honda has won the flag.
As regards blue flags, also our town is still at the head of the Mediterranean peninsula.
The seven ensigns granted by the European Foundation for Environmental Education will look at Mar de Cristal, Levante-Cabo de Palos, Cala Cortina, Cala del Pino, Islas Menores and Playa Honda San Ginés in La Azohía.
These awards join the Blue Flag awarded for the first time Surveillance and Rescue Service in Playas.
