The Governing Council has approved the appointment of Eduardo Zaplana as member of the Social Council of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT), replacing Julio Alvarez Gomez.

Andres Eduardo Zaplana Hernández-Soro July (Cartagena, 1956) graduated in law from the University of Alicante.

He has been President of the Generalitat Valenciana, Minister of Labour and Social Affairs and government spokesman Spain.

He is currently Deputy Secretary General of Telefonica, position held since 2008.

He has extensive professional experience in management, politics and now in the company, which adds this appointment as member of the Social Council of the UPCT.
