The rector of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, Alejandro Diaz, announced today at the opening of the day that the UPCT is studying the creation of a professorship own focused on digital education to meet the challenges and demands of society information and university students.
"Universities that do not climb on the bandwagon of digitization will be left out of play," warned Diaz, who highlighted the initiatives launched by the Polytechnic in this regard.

The Chair Telefónica-UPCT organized this day in participating as speakers, among others, Fabian Garcia, director of the Network of Telefónica Chairs and Miguel Zapata, advisor on open university teaching and editor of the magazine RED who have spoken on issues like massive online training courses or the current situation and the future of digital education.
Miguel Zapata has done a tour in his speech for the development of university education through the MOOC (massive courses open online), "a symptom of the crisis of the University generated by the innovations of the knowledge society" says this expert.

At the opening session also they attended by the director of the Telefonica-UPCT Chair, Rafael Toledo, the director general of Educational Innovation of the Ministry of Culture, Ana Millán and Angel Lloret, regional director of Telefonica in the region of Murcia.
The latter stressed "the commitment of the company with digital education, a strategic axis in our strategic planning for the coming years, as the value to transform society, democratize education and create new opportunities for young talents".
