Cartagena will host in 2017 the XII edition of the annual meeting organized by the International Association of Cities and Entities of the Enlightenment (AICEI).
The appointment took place in the General Assembly that took place during the first day of the conference which was held from 13 to 15 October in the Portuguese city of Covilha, where the area councilor for Culture and Heritage, Ricardo Segado, participated on behalf of City of Cartagena.
The mayor has said that the decision to appoint Cartagena as the next venue of the congress held by consensus.
We need to work hard to reach the level that has had this issue and to further promote this period of history, pointed Segado, who also recalled that next year will be held in Cartagena Year of the Enlightenment from day 20 January.
Similarly, the council has ensured that we are very pleased to have been able to represent Cartagena in this conference illustrated cities, which have been able to exchange ideas and views on the Enlightenment and everything that surrounds this source of thought that so much wealth ideological and heritage bequeathed us.
During the three days that lasted the meeting, representatives of the various cities have been able to do different activities such as visits to the city of Covilha, the University of Beira Interior and the museum of fabrics;
lainauguración of Knowledge Garden and an exhibition on the arts of the municipality of Redondo.
Finally, Ricardo Segado thanked the conference organizers and the city of Covilha hospitality extended to us all representatives of the municipalities that have been present during these days.
