An architect raises UPCT use the arrival of the AVE for integration of neighborhoods of this area as a final project (14/10/2016)

The mayor of Cartagena, Jose Lopez, received this morning at the architect Alberto Moreno Palacio, recently awarded the second prize of the awards IE Architecture + Prize for his Final Project at the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) in which it intends to use the arrival of the AVE to the municipality to integrate the eastern suburbs of the city by extending the current railway station Avenida de America and remodeling its environment.

Moreno has been accompanied by the director of labor, professor UPCT, Pedro Garcia.

The meeting also participated the general director of Infrastructures, Manuel Nicolas.

The draft Moreno's main transport hub exchanger, which would host users high speed and conventional trains, buses and taxis.

Moreover, the work suggests that the station would be connected by a platform with the road from La Union to thereby end the current difference in height and physical barriers between the districts of Eixample and Los Mateos.

Similarly, the excavation of the routes is also contemplated from the bridge of Torreciega to allow natural expansion of the city to the east, foreseeing also planting trees on available land to create a large urban center that would be connected with the greenway del Barrio Peral.

The new construction would respect the historic station Victor Beltrí, in the words of Moreno, retranqueándose to his main facade, without exceeding height, also having an inhabited covered through a public square at the top of the building that would become in reference visual environment.
