The Mediterranean Urbanization wanted to honor one of their neighbors for their active participation in improving infrastructure of the neighborhood, with the nomination of a public space like Plaza de Ginés García Hernández.

Act of nomination of space, which was attended's mayor, Jose Lopez, took place last Friday, October 7, at the confluence of the street Ruby with Gema and turquoise Mediterranean Urbanisation, near the honoree's home, until his death in 2001, where the agreement the new name of the square was read.

The mayor toured the trajectory of Ginés García and good work in the neighborhood, remembering that for nearly three decades reaped friendship and sympathy of all who knew him, and the importance of that after more than a decade since his death reminding the neighborhood follow and has wished to express its thanks and appreciation to the nomination of the square.

The ceremony was also attended by the councilor for the Quality of Life, Francisco Calderon, the Councillor of Finance, Isabel Garcia, the Councillor for Social Services, Carmen Martin, and the Councillor for Transparency, Maria Jose Soler, along with relatives and neighbors , the president of the Federation of Neighborhood Associations of Cartagena, Cristina Roca, and the president of the Neighborhood Association, Sebastian Garcia, who has been one of the main promoters of this tribute.

After the ceremony, about 21:00 pm, took place the delivery of 2016 Silver Caravel prizes awarded by the Neighborhood Association of Private Mediterranean to different people and organizations that help the neighborhood selflessly.

The awards recognized the work forces and security forces, such as the recently retired local police, Joaquin Sanchez, the inspector of the National Police, Juan Antonio Garcia.

There were awards also for neighboring Antonio Saturnino, coach soccer teams Club Deportivo Mediterranean, Jose Antonio Torres, artistic and musical director Maestro Torres or Francisco Montesinos, delegate of Caritas in Cartagena and Rector of the Church of Charity, who picked up his award by the mayor.
