The confluence of the Menendez Pelayo and Licenciado Cascales streets, overlooking the old Technical School Learner Bazan, now University Center ISEN, has a new name that recalls the contribution of apprentices for employment and training: Square Apprentice.

The opening ceremony took place on Saturday, October 8, at the hands of the mayor of Cartagena, Jose Lopez, who welcomed the participants and reiterated the commitment of the City of apprentices to make this corner of the city, immediately afterwards proceeding to the discovery of the plaque with the name of the square.
The president of the Alumni Association of the School Learner Bazán, José Manuel Marin, and the new director of the shipyard Navantia in Cartagena, Agustin Alvarez Blanco, also took part in the speech.
At the opening was attended by the Deputy Mayor, Ana Belén Castejon, Councillor for Public Safety, Francisco Aznar, the Councillor of Finance, Isabel Garcia and Transparency Councilwoman Maria Jose Soler.

A blacksmith, a lathe operator and a welder, representing the three offices of shipbuilding, make up the monument to apprentice resting in this place, which opened on October 24, 2015, sponsored and built by Navantia and driven by the Alumni Association Technical School in Cartagena de Bazan its 90th anniversary.
The sculpture, designed by retired Shipyard Rosique Belmonte, is a tribute to a generation of cartageneros who passed through their classrooms.
