The National Museum of Underwater Archaeology, ARQVA, will host the third edition of the concert Habanera and Sea Songs dedicated to 12th October, Columbus Day, in charge of the Polyphonic Choir Carthagonova.
The central hall of the museum will host at 12 hours, this commemorative event.
The concert will melt the pieces of music history pieces that emerged during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, a period in which trade between Spain and America was constant, especially with the Caribbean.
Departing boats to Cuba from the Spanish coast loaded with all kinds of products, especially salt Levantine eras;
and on his return, they came to our lands, through these oceanic trade routes to the Americas, sugar, snuff and other products.
Thus, it is very likely that the Spanish merchant seamen brought to this country some Cuban sones, and during long voyages merged with own local folklore, eventually resulting in the habanera.
Likewise, brought thousands of soldiers, sailors and policemen from all provinces of Spain who were stationed on Navy ships in the rookeries of Havana and Santiago, in the regiments stationed on the island, and the expeditionary regiments of infantry, cavalry and artillery.
For this historical past, organizers have considered appropriate that the concert will be held in the framework of the National Museum of Underwater Archaeology.
