The secrets of water in your city, located in Plaza José María Artés.

This exhibition, curated by Dr. Carla Carbonell, is structured in three main areas: Water, the elixir of life, water in the city and sustainable water, and aims to reflect on the great technological, economic and environmental challenges of an gesture apparently as simple as opening a tap at home and drinking water comes out.

WATER ELIXIR OF LIFE
In the first area of ​​introduction exceptional physical properties of liquid water, as well as the close relationship between this unique compound and all living beings are presented, including humans.
Earth provides ideal conditions that make life possible in it, and among these, prominently the presence of liquid water on its surface instead.
Thanks to this and the extraordinary physical properties of water, we exist.
All beings of the biosphere are basically water, and we are no exception.
However, human beings do not only need water to live, but also to grow and prosper.
The history of our civilization is closely linked to efforts to provide us with fresh water, a precious resource and less abundant than it might seem at first glance.
In this first area, the public can discover what is special liquid water, how much we have and how it is distributed on our planet.
And you will understand why we say that water is the elixir of life.
WATER IN THE CITY
Supply drinking water to a city is a major challenge.
The aim is to ensure an adequate supply to meet the needs of the population through efficient and sustainable management of this resource.
In this area the urban water cycle, ie, the road that runs along the water for urban supply, from the point of capture until you return to the medium once used, through the stages of purification, distribution, purification shown wastewater and return to the natural environment or reuse.
An interactive game will make attendees in water managers in an imaginary city.
By going through the various phases of the urban water cycle, different challenges that must be overcome to ensure adequate distribution of drinking water they will arise.
SUSTAINABLE WATER
The third and final section presents the challenges that the XXI century presents us with regard to drinking water supply in the urban environment, and shows us how the responsible use of water can lead to a better future for all.

PARALLEL ACTIVITY H2Oh !: GAME ONLINE
In parallel to the exhibition, there was an online game that allows anyone to become manager of the water in an imaginary city.
With this game, similar to the famous SimCity general structure, users must build the infrastructure required to ensure an adequate supply of water as the city grows.
They must also deal with various technical and environmental challenges and meet the demands that people go asking them, while the game progresses.
The ultimate goals are to ensure that the city prosper and maximum satisfaction of its inhabitants, through efficient and sustainable water unagestión.
