The Minister of Public Works and Infrastructures, Pedro Rivera, said today that the Logistics Activities Zone (LAZ) Cartagena will be linked to the trans-European transport network and "will be the main center of attraction of Southeast Spanish port goods".

Pedro Rivera stressed that this infrastructure "will play a significant role as an intermodal node coordinate storage, transport and distribution of goods related to port activity and, in particular, the container terminal to be held in the city of Cartagena ".

"The ZAL Cartagena is a strategic project of the Community and has the full support of the regional government to lead the industrial and business development in the region," said the counselor.

Following a meeting with representatives of the Association of Industrial Estate Camachos, Pedro Rivera informed them that in the coming days the Study of technical and economic viability of the ZAL Cartagena award, which is planned to develop this polygon .

The study, with a budget of 110,000 euros, will be a "very complete and complex, where economic feasibility, costs, necessary investments and infrastructure required analyzes" technical document, it finalized the head of the Ministry of Public Works.

This document will answer the need for a ZAL in Cartagena, its characteristics and its development, in order to distribute the surface and spaces and work phases in which it will run.

It will also analyze best connections by road and rail with the logistics hub, the location of the intermodal station and the type of companies that you can accept.
