The Councillor for Education, David Martinez, visited this morning the Elcano Institute in the beginning of the course, accompanied by the school management.
Besides being in a class of 3rd of ESO chatting with students, the mayor has had the opportunity to tour the facilities of the institute and has seen firsthand the urgent needs presented regarding maintenance.
"The IES Elcano asked the Ministry of Education an economic game in order to ensure proper maintenance of the center. The course has already begun and the money has not arrived. This morning I have seen the need to repaint the facade and the lamentable state in which are the doors, which must be renewed, among many other things, "Martinez stated.
The mayor pointed out that this is a school attended every day more than 600 students and teachers has a team of 57 teachers.
Moreover, David Martinez said that in the IES Los Molinos, the regional government has installed this course two classrooms in barracks so has also claimed that carried out the expansion of the center as soon as possible.
"The Ministry of Education has absolutely abandoned institutes of the municipality of Cartagena and therefore we require you to put a definitive solution to all these problems," said the councilman.
