The Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) today called helps the Autonomous Region for the conservation of their cataloged as of Cultural Interest (BIC) buildings.
This is one of the requests made today by the rector, Alejandro Diaz, Minister of Culture and the regional government spokesman, Noelia Arroyo, who has held a working meeting at the Palacio Aguirre.
As explained by the Rector, the historic university buildings are a "very important feature" of the UPCT, why has requested support from the regional government to establish a framework collaboration agreement that promotes maintenance.
Three of the UPCT centers are located in former military facilities of great architectural value, built in XVIII century.
The former Navy Hospital, home of the School of Industrial;
Antigones barracks, current Teleco School and the old Barracks Seamanship Instruction, Faculty of Business.
The Rector has also requested assistance to finance the drafting of a master plan for the urban planning of the hill of San Jose, area where are the Rector of the UPCT, sports facilities Club Santiago and the former Administrative City Hall, owned by University.
This area is affected by the environment BIC hill, one of the five hills of Cartagena, remains of the Wall are.
Diaz Morcillo recalled after the meeting that in the last 10-15 years there has been no action in the area.
"Our future project is to develop the master plan of the hill of San Jose so that over time can give vitality to the area," he said.
