On the occasion of the celebration of the festival of Carthaginians and Romans the Municipal Archaeological Museum of Cartagena has been scheduled for September, in collaboration with the Federation troops and legions, unciclo historic movie titled Carthage in Film.
The program includes the screening of five films about the ancient history of Carthage.
The projections will be free of charge, they will be held outdoors in the gardens of the Municipal Archaeological Museum, located in Ramon y Cajal 45, from 21:00 hours.
The area councilor of Culture and Archaeological Heritage of the City of Cartagena, Ricardo Segado, has been commissioned to give all the details of this cycle of historic cinema, today, September 7, at the Palace Hall.
The mayor was accompanied by the general coordinator of Archaeological Heritage, Maria del Carmen Berrocal.
As explained Ricardo Segado, the intention of this film series is to bring the viewer to the treatment he has received the history of Carthage on the big screen.
The filmography is sparse, however, according to the mayor, it is a reflection of the limited role Carthage has enjoyed in recorded history: an ephemeral role, virtually confined to the episode of his confrontation with Rome during the Punic Wars.
A fact that meant a brief chapter in the long history of Rome but that was the end of history in ancient Carthage.
In this context, the figure of Hannibal appears as the main protagonist of this cycle.
His legendary exploits for centuries have stimulated interest in this character to become as Segado, a myth of historical tradition and deeds have always been well received in the world of celluloid.
