Cartagena will in the coming months with an urban garden and municipal nursery located in New Cartagena, in the area formerly occupied by the municipal treatment plant.
Infrastructure area, led by the Mayor, Jose Lopez, has developed a project to be developed in unasuperficie of 10,000 square meters, municipally owned.
With this first performance, promoted by the Department of Infrastructure, will advance significantly in the improvement and maintenance of municipal gardens, as well as allowing other uses such as generating plants.
The project will tender in the near future and contemplates the adequacy of an access area where a parking as well as a picnic area for public use is enabled.
The plot, located between the Transversal Ronda Serrania de Ronda street and Rambla de Benipila, will be divided into two spaces where the gardens and the nursery will be located.
It is contemplated that provided four urban gardens, while in another area, greenhouses, shade house and a reserved area for planting will be located.
The nursery will have a dual function: production and recovery plants.
In addition, the City of Cartagena will be able to perform in this collection of material, gravel, stone or topsoil municipal facility, which will benefit the maintenance and care of gardens in the city.
Similarly, a water tank will be constructed;
warehouse;
office and toilet / changing room, among other agencies.
Urban gardens will be open to the use of neighboring facilitating the City citizens to interact in this space.
Similarly, collaboration with associations and social institutions is expected.
