The image of San Ginés de la Jara Saturday toured the districts and councils of Cartagena tradicionalromería organized by the Brotherhood of Romeros.
More than 500 people followed on foot, some in traditional costumes, and carts to the saint walked this year for the first time with the new image.
The festival of San Ginés de la Jara, patron saint of Cartagena, led a group of religious ceremonies last week to honor the saint among those who could not miss the traditional pilgrimage, which this year celebrates twenty-three, coinciding with the 475th anniversary of the canonization of San Gines.
The ceremony was attended by the mayor of Cartagena, Jose Lopez, who came in traditional dress, the councilor for the Quality of Life, Francisco Calderon and Transparency Councilwoman Maria Jose Soler.
At eight o'clock the ceremony was started from the Basilica of Charity with the Holy Eucharist by the chaplain of the Brotherhood, a floral offering to the patron and save.
