The Ministry of Water, Agriculture and Environment, through the Directorate General of Rural and Forestry Development has awarded the Residencial El Valle de las Palas aid of 200,000 euros for the construction and commissioning of a day care center and permanent residence stays for seniors.
The project, included in the Rural Development Programme of the Region of Murcia, has involved the construction of a residential 1,500 square meters on one floor with capacity to accommodate 50 people permanently.
The building, located on the road from Las Palas to Tallante, in the municipality of Cartagena, has a total of 20 rooms for residents, three living rooms, dining room, kitchen, geriatric bathroom, laundry, hairdresser, two outdoor terraces and a large garden.
The housing also has a medical office, nursing unit, treatment room, living physiotherapy and rehabilitation, podiatry room and two rooms for occupational therapy.
All rooms have private bathrooms and feature all necessary technical assistance to facilitate autonomy and ensure the safety of the elderly.
The launch of the new residence has required the creation of 17 jobs, 10 of them full-time.
The project has a total investment of 1,128,279 euros, of which has been funded amounting to 200,000.
75 percent, 150,000 euros, has been financed by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) and the rest in equal parts by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment and the Ministry.
The general director of Rural and Forestry Development, Federico García Izquierdo, expressed his satisfaction with this type of projects in which he said, "in addition to promoting the development of rural areas collaborate to groups such as older people have the services necessary to enjoy a good quality of life. it is also remarkable the number of jobs generated by this type of projects.
