As announced on Wednesday the mayor, Jose Lopez, during the public opening of the Cathedral of Cartagena, the intention of the municipal government is to start as soon as possible steps to recover the Chapel Council, valuable space asset in which the mayor expected to be installed the image of the Virgen del Rosell, co-patron of the city, and the Cuatro Santos Cartagena.
In this line, the general director of Infrastructures, Manuel Nicolas, and the general coordinator of Historical Heritage and Archaeology of City Hall, Carmen Berrocal, accompanied by the municipal and technicians from the departments of Infrastructure and Urban archaeologist, they visited Thursday this space to see, first hand, the state that is the same, with the intention to begin the process of rehabilitation and enhancement.
Thus, once the municipal technicians have developed this study, carried out the corresponding contacts both with the Bishop of the Diocese of Cartagena as the autonomous region, to assist in the progress of the rehabilitation project.
The Chapel of the Council, of a Greek cross, begun in 1571 to house the image of the Virgen del Rosell, who later was accompanied by images of the Four Saints BOUT Salzillo, where they remained until the War Spanish civil destroyed the Cathedral.
Remember that from Wednesday and until Saturday 30 July, you can visit the Cathedral from 10:00 to 12:00.
In addition, each month, will be visitable free for four days.
With this initiative, the municipal government reaffirms its commitment to the heritage of Cartagena, working and performing the necessary steps to recover deposits of great importance and have been forgotten for many years as the Cathedral, the Roman Amphitheatre or the Monastery of San Gines la Jara.
