Youth Councilman, Ricardo Segado, has moved this morning to St. Lucia for a visit to the nineteen volunteers who are participating in the field of Cartagena work, the tradition of the sea, an initiative framed within the program T-LA Summer with the collaboration of the Association Eduka Sociocultural, and it will run until July 30.
The days are putting their focus on recovery and promotion of maritime and cultural heritage of the city, work on which are focused these young people (aged 18 to 30 years old) arrived from eleven autonomous communities.
Volunteers during their stay in the city and, together with the monitors in charge, are staying in the hostel Youth Center Canteras.
The work day for them starts at nine o'clock, ending at two in the afternoon.
During the day, volunteers are deepening the knowledge of aspects of the history of fishing and navigation in the maritime province of Cartagena, and the characteristics of its coast, fauna and flora.
In this sense, they are working on maintaining fishing nets and retrieving a boat lateen, work being carried out in the area of ​​the inner harbor of Santiago Apostle, with the Neighborhood Association of Santa Lucia.
Upon completion of the arrangement, it is planned launching of the boat.
Thus, young people are involved in the work of recovery of a vessel used in a sport deeply rooted in the maritime tradition of Cartagena, the lateen.
Meanwhile, the evening sessions are being reserved for the conduct of other activities and follow-up visits.
Among them, one at Mar Menor, where he is planning a waste collection;
an excursion to the Natural Calblanque Natural Park, or the approach to theaters and sites such as the Museum of Archaeology (ARQUA) or the Roman Theatre.
