A bakery, a clothing, a hairdresser and an entertainment venue located in the streets San Fernando, Four Saints and San Francisco are the first recipients of aid under the Plan to Support Investment in the Old Town (PAICA) of this year.
The evaluation commission projects met yesterday under the chairmanship of Deputy Mayor, Ana Belén Castejon, and gave the nod to the grant for two of these companies.
Whatever is helping entrepreneurs to invest in Cartagena is good.
Moreover, these subsidies have a twofold purpose;
stimulate trade and boost the degraded area of ​​the historic center, which has been neglected for too long, said the president, Ana Belén Castejon.
The aid granted to date amount to about 20,000 euros and are intended to help entrepreneurs who are committed to the historic city center.
In fact, there are many requests Calle San Fernando, which makes us very happy because it is a symptom that is picking up, Castejon said.
In total, there have been seven applications.
Of the remaining three, one was rejected because it was submitted after the deadline and the remaining two are being processed.
The City of Cartagena, in its commitment to revitalize the downtown area, is carrying out a series of actions aimed at improving infrastructure and the provision of public spaces, the promotion of social cohesion and reactivation of business.
In the latter sense, and by 2016, it was launched the call collecting Plan Investment Support in the Old Town, with the aim of promoting entrepreneurial activity in the area of ​​Old City.
This call gives impetus to investment and entrepreneurship support, through stimulating the opening of business or modernization of existing premises at street level, intended for commercial activity with granting subsidies to them, it is limited into a certain streets of the old town area and claiming social, economic and tourist lareactivación of the environment, its location, location and tourist attractions make it a priority to develop the historic center of the city of Cartagena.
This call includes economic support measures to assist the municipal authorities in financing the investment made and, in the case of the activity of hotel and during their first year, to finance part of the expenditure involving the rate by occupation the street with tables and chairs.
