The District of Cartagena hosts until Sunday July 10 the twenty fourth edition of the National Folk Festival, where culture and roots music come together in events such as the Big Night Folk, to the rhythm of Iberian percussion, and the Folk Festival with groups of different points of the Spanish geography.
The folk festival, based in the Agrifood Experimental Station La Palma, dedicated this year's edition the figure of the troubadour José Maria Marin.
Free admission to events, offers an encounter with roots music, plus lectures and exhibitions that are taking place throughout the week.
Percussion Band Orchestra Coetus will be responsible for putting the rhythm to the Big Night Folk, which will hoyviernes place, July 8, from 22:30 hours, one of the great acts of the festival program which will be attended the Councillor of Finance, Isabel Garcia and Transparency Councilwoman Maria Jose Soler.
The band first visited the region of Murcia to act in the Patio de las Casas Grandes, with the backdrop of 200 palm trees eighteenth century, where 17 musicians will play different topics with a wide collection of Iberian instruments.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to see the exhibition hereditas: legacy to the Wind, where Javier Lorente show 50 images of popular architecture of Cartagena field.
The climax of the XXIV Folklore Festival District of Cartagena will be held Saturday July 9, with the participation of different groups in the Folk Festival which will begin at 22:00, and attended by the mayor of Cartagena, Jose Lopez, Transparency and Councilwoman Maria Jose Soler.
There will meet from La Palma Grupo Folklorico Infantil Santa Florentina and City of Cartagena, the Municipal Group of Regional Dance of Granada, Choir and Dances of Murcia Zarandona, and the Ethnographic Association Don Sancho de Zamora.
The closure will take place at 00:30 hours, with fireworks
