The Governing Board, chaired by the mayor, Jose Lopez, has this morning approved the Municipal Plan on Disability, 2016-2019, Cartagena for all, develop actions to provide answers to the social needs of the municipality and achieve their welfare, lines of work in five areas: Awareness and Information, Universal Accessibility, Jobs, Leisure Culture and Sports, Social Services.
The Department of Social Services and Social Mediation City of Cartagena, driving the plan, will respond through the Municipal Plan Disability these needs through actions that strengthen participation in social, economic life of people with disabilities and their right to live independently, promoting individual and collective role in solving their own problems.
The most important commitments that the Plan establishes are aspire to the development and implementation of a municipal ordinance for Universal Accessibility of Cartagena, in order to achieve open to all city, the creation of the Municipal Council for Persons with Disability and Technical Office for Accessibility.

It's a good plan, but we have to continue working, has said the Councillor for Social Services, Carmen Martin.
The Plan is intended that persons with disabilities can exercise their rights and can lead a normal life, having access to the same places, areas, goods and services that are available to anyone else.
The Municipal Plan on Disability has been worked on and agreed by the technicians of the different municipal areas, 17 organizations and associations and all local groups.
The Plan working groups that are working today are: accessibility, information and communication, sensitization school environment, tourism and urban transport.
