In the morning, Tuesday 28 June, it closed the course Basic Operations in Tourist Environments that has given ASID (Integral Association for Persons with Down syndrome and their families) for two years to a total of thirteen students suffering disability.
The event, which was held at the Youth Center Canteras, featured the Councillor for Culture and Heritage, Ricardo Segado, which has delivered the diplomas and showed the highest willingness of the municipal government to continue working with ASID in the organization of this training course enables students to have chances of finding work.
Throughout the course, which has lasted for 1,600 hours over two years, ASID has trained students in performing various jobs as an administrative assistant, cleaning or janitor.
To do so, they were given lectures three days a week in the center of the Association itself, as well as practical two days a week that have developed at the Youth Center Canteras tasks, also including a weekly visit to different cultural centers from Cartagena.
At the close, the mayor was accompanied by the president of ASID, Juan Carrasco, and also took the opportunity to highlight the work of this Association and the teachers responsible for teaching the course, a social and unapedagoga educator.
From next September to December, these students will practice in real in different companies of the city.
