The Regional Museum of Modern Art in Cartagena (Muram) hosts until September the exhibition 'Where memory dwells.
Sculptures in search of voz ', in which more than fifty works of Concha Martinez Montalvo shown and included in museum programming designed from the Ministry of Culture and Spokesperson.
The exhibition is the result of a selection of works covering the period of artistic production of Martinez Montalvo from 2000 to the present 2016. The sample is composed of different areas dominated by the sculpture through more than 40 pieces of pottery stoneware and porcelain clay refractory.
A sculpture joins a selection of 16 works on paper and drawings, etchings and watercolors, his plastic techniques used in research.
And the show is completed with two facilities, one of them, 'The voice of the absent', made for this new exhibition Muram.
The creative process of the artist from Madrid, based in Murcia for decades, is in research and in the search for the memory of a vital form behind which there is a social commitment to women.
Thus creates a polysemic, committed and always critical against the predation of women universe.
His works redefine gender and vivid stories, anonymous stories of women around the world who suffer neglect.
Martinez Montalvo tries to denounce situations of injustice by giving the floor to strange women, and goes beyond the act of creation and configuration of a reality with the will to save memory.
The general director of Cultural Heritage, Maria Comas, said Martinez Montalvo is an artist who, through his work, "conveys a free look of prejudice against women" and recalled that "in the Regional Museum of Modern Art are organizing exhibitions of consolidated creators with a wide and proven track record, artists working new proposals which contemporary art and whose samples are supplemented in many cases with workshops and visits like those organized during this summer "is served.
The first scheduled workshop, titled 'Footprints', is aimed at children and will take place on July 7, while the workshops 'memory footprints and' adult day will be July 14 and August 23.
Guided tours of the exhibition with the artist on 7 and 14 July and 23 and 25 August visits will also be conducted.
