The closing and awards ceremony of the First National Contest Amateur Theatre in Cartagena, which was held during the month of June in Circus Apollo Theater in El Algar, appoint the winner of this first edition this Saturday, June 18.
They choose three finalists to win the first prize, selected from among thirty candidates from throughout the Spanish geography.
The event will start at 21:30 pm at the historic Apollo Theater in a ceremony that will be attended by the mayor, Jose Lopez, Deputy Mayor, Ana Belén Castejon, and the Councillor for Culture, David Martinez.
The gala will have free entrance until full capacity after removing the invitations in the theater.
In this Closing Ceremony, the two actors will humorously from the stalls, interacting with the public.
The three finalists, Brothers and sisters, the company Taules Teatre, Weirs Carafur and Baranda, and AUGUST company Druid Theatre, will be presented through a video and a small representation live to make way for the appointment of the First Prize of the event, which will be delivered by the mayor, Jose Lopez, in charge to terminate the gala.
In addition to a diploma of the contest that will be delivered to each group, the Granadora work will receive a prize of 1,000 euros in cash and a sculpture by Jorge Garcia Aznar.
Second place will receive 500 euros in cash and another sculpture by the same author.
The best female and male performance will receive a prize as well as interpretations of best actor and supporting actress and best director;
all receive a trophy.
The jury responsible for the selection of candidates has been composed by the Councillor for Culture, David Martinez, Esperanza Clares of Alquibla Theatre, and Alfredo Avila Teatro La Murga.
The semifinals of the First National Contest Amateur Theatre, which has the support of the City of Cartagena, held on 9, 10 and 11 June, making it pass through the Apollo Theater El Algar works of Cartagena and region, as well as other municipalities in the region of Murcia, as well as works of Madrid, Granada, Alicante, Ciudad Real, Leon, Toledo, Cordoba, Seville and Jerez de la Frontera, who have represented both dramas and comedies, tragi-comedies or tragedies.
