In the first Government, the Department of Social Services City of Cartagena has developed many important measures to combat inequality and help the most disadvantaged groups in the municipality.
Councillor for Social Services, Carmen Martin, highlighted the housing policies that have been developed.
First with the creation of SAVI (Housing Service and Trading), with which, thanks to the work of intermediation of this service with all stakeholders: users, bailiffs, Repossessed, Platform Affected by the Mortgage, Bar , Real Property, ect;
It has managed to avoid the eviction of 100 families.
Which they have been able to remain in their homes, either through social or debt refinancing rents, and in cases where it has not been possible, all families have been relocated.
During this year they have also had to deal with various rehousing emergency as determined several weeks ago by the eviction of a building in the Ramon y Cajal street threatening danger of detachment or last November by demolishing houses in Los Mateos declared in ruins.
Martin pointed out that to continue providing such assistance, the Department of Social Services has updated the census municipally owned homes and their occupants, as well as updating models lease.
It has also initiated a process valued at 269,000 euros for the rehabilitation of 10 municipally owned homes that were in a state of neglect and will be incorporated into this park that already have City Hall.
This project has already started with the first four homes that are located in Los Urrutias, San Antón, Barrio Peral and Los Dolores, with contracts already awarded.

All this municipal housing policy culminates with the launch last June 2 with the Constitution of the Bureau of Local Housing with representatives of various sectors involved in housing, evictions and brokerage.

When the new government team arrived a year ago, they had counted 66 homeless people sleeping on the street or in financial institutions, and through the creation of Service Bystanders and Homeless, has managed to get 50 of them have out of the streets.
To this end, and in the municipality of Cartagena, none of its citizens are in this situation of social vulnerability, has designed a program of support, rehabilitation and personal creation homeless, so they leave or minimize their situation of social exclusion.
Another achievement of this first year of government, is the implementation of a plan for development of Fenix ​​Manifesto for the Los Mateos.
In collaboration with the Association Rascasa they have carried out projects to prevent social exclusion among children, entertainment programs and free time for preventive and informative adolescents and women of this district performances.
Furthermore Social Services has promoted other necessary actions very dependent on other councils, such as increased security in the area, improved signaling and neighborhood cleanliness and adequacy of the environment Moorish Castle.
This Department has reactivated the City Commission of Drug Dependence that was several years without having been convened and approved a Municipal Plan of addiction and substance abuse which entered into force on 3 this month.
In this regard, it has managed the granting of a state subsidy, from confiscated drug, to develop a project Drug Addiction Prevention through and Leisure youth in four districts of the town: Los Mateos - Lo Campano, urbanization Mediterranean, Virgen de la Caridad and José María La Puerta.

Regarding immigration policy for the integration of different social groups in the municipality, they are organizing days of multicultural activities such as Kultur-Al in the Albujón or José María La Puerta.
DELI has developed the project and together with the ADLE (Agency of Local Development and Employment), are unifying criteria on the entrepreneurship of autonomous future immigrants to develop a second project DELI-2.
It has also presented a study on religious diversity in the city, which is conducting the Foundation for Pluralism and Coexistence.
It has launched a Service to people with disabilities and dependence and created the municipal commission on disability who is acting in four main areas: the social environment, school, tourism and information and communication, which have already been incorporated accessibility tools such as Inclusite on the municipal website.
