Jose Lopez reiterates the benefits that biprovincialidad generated in the whole region (15/06/2016)

The mayor of Cartagena and MC Secretary General, Jose Lopez, explained yesterday the positive consequences that a second province would have on the whole region.

A question from a journalist, the mayor referred to one of the proposals maintained by MC, which is now trying to seize the regional PP, which refers to the necessary inclusion of Cartagena as legislative capital, an issue that would be collected in the articles of the Statute of Autonomy.

Lopez welcomed the fact that the PP at least have caught "a flower from big bouquet we offered him," referring to the need to mean Cartagena as legislative capital in the Statute of Autonomy, pending the inclusion of provinciality in the discussion of the text, as well as the momentum towards effective regional decentralization, which could pass for the transfer of certain Councils to the city of Cartagena, especially those areas where the regional municipality is tipped spear.

"In Cartagena wants to not harm the rest of the region", "On the contrary, what it is is to have greater weight in Madrid," he argued the mayor.

"Cartagena - continued Jose Lopez - must be co-equity legislation for the benefits that would result from the state" but to do so, "should be reflected in the provisions of the Statute, not in the preamble as to date," continued Lopez.

"Only our weight is multiplied in Madrid doubling the number of deputies in Congress," he reasoned the mayor, who referred to the economic reports that support the province of Cartagena, whose first studies were the work of someone who "was neither cantonal or cartagenerista" , referring to the ex - socialist director general of the regional government, Vicente Lozano Sahuquillo, whose work and studies have been subsequently endorsed by professors of constitutional law at the University of Murcia, who argue that the proper process is supported by MC, as the Spanish Constitution provides for the creation of new provinces.

"It's just a matter of will, adopted at the Regional Assembly and take it to Madrid," the alderman had an impact.

These arguments of economic and nature practical complement to the obvious historical reasons that support the just demands of the restitution of the province of Cartagena, as the sanction of Javier de Burgos in 1833 leaving Cartagena without province, due to the loyalty of the the first European city to liberal constitution.
