The Minister of Family and Equal Opportunities, Thomas Violante, today visited the residence for elderly people House Campo Perín.
At the ceremony, he recalled that the Department of Family and Equal Opportunities has increased this year to 65 percent squares aimed at this group in the municipality.
As stated in Cartagena they were offered in 2015 to 366 spaces elderly centers with which the Instituto Murciano Social Action (IMAS) held concerts.
"The Ministry has made great budgetary efforts and has increased this year's service to the elderly in places 238, 198 residence and 40 for day centers. Specifically, this residence has created 13 new jobs, bringing and 45 are those funded by the IMAS in the center, with a budget of 419,000 euros ".
In the whole region in 2016 they have created 740 new places for the care of dependent persons, of which 520 are aimed at older people, representing an increase of 15 percent, with a total capacity 4,008.
The counselor explained that "with the recent expansion of places in this center we try to respond to demand, as there are many people who have specifically requested admission to this residence."
Among the services offered by the IMAS there is also the possibility of awarding economic benefit linked to residential care service to those who want financial support that allows them to partially finance the cost of a private square.
Today, there are 107 facilities of this type.
In addition to higher positions in several residences, recently it has carried out the reopening of the residence Source Cubas, with 120 places of residence and day center 40.
