Local police officers arrested in Cartagena last Saturday evening a man aged 65 who had tried to rob three ATMs in Cartagena by breaking with a hammer.
It so happens that the person involved had been arrested last week for similar crimes in the Barrio Peral saying then that he was broke and needed money.
The incident took place about twenty past five pm, when a patrol was requested by a citizen at the Gates of Madrid who had witnessed a guy had just left the branch of a savings bank in the plaza of Spain with a hammer after making a hole in the glass door that led to the office.
With the description provided several officers scoured the area of Calle del Carmen, locating the individual within a bar and engage a bag where the hammer was used for formwork.
The detainee admitted to agents the responsibility for the act, as well as a similar one in a branch of another savings in the Paseo de Alfonso XIII.
Later communication was received from the 092 room noting also that evening there had been another similar incident on a branch of the Plaza de Alicante.
