The aim is that the unmanned vehicle with electric motor and artificial intelligence, reach speeds of 300 kilometers per hour
The alumnus of the School of Industrial UPCT José Martínez García is working as aerodynamics engineer in the UK in the ambitious RoboRace project, a prototype racing car unmanned with electric motor, equipped with advanced electronic systems and artificial intelligence.
These vehicles will reach speeds exceeding 300 km / h run at speed circuits in the Formula E. disputed prototype is already being debugged to enable competing in the next championship 2016-2017.
"The artificial intelligence replaces human decision, assisted by sensors of all kinds that provide information to a management unit, programmed to know the limits of acceleration, braking, cornering or weight transfer and act accordingly faster, accurate and effective than the best and most experienced pilots, "says alumnus.
Mechanical engineer José Martínez García "is one of the brightest team members UPCT Racing Team," says Patricio Franco, professor in charge of the team.
Indeed, the alumnus made his final thesis on the aerodynamics of the car of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena.
"His experience in our team UPCT competition has served to enter the automotive world," adds Franco.
"Thanks to UPCT Racing Team got place in Oxford to study an MA engineering competition," says Martinez Garcia, who now participates in the aerodynamic design of RoboRace within the complex of Renault F1 in Enstone, England.
"We have the best facilities and my colleagues have years of experience in Formula 1," says former student, proud to be part of "demanding but exciting world engine".
"The UPCT Racing Team enabled me to understand the importance of teamwork when they have common goals and satisfaction to realize what they have learned in the classroom," says the graduate of the Polytechnic.
"The preparation of the engineers trained in the UPCT noticed when we arrived abroad," he adds.
García Martínez fellow in the team are developing this course UPCT its second prototype car with electric motors for the next edition of the Formula Student competition to be held in August 2016 at the Circuit de Catalunya.
"The experience that our students acquire in the teams competition and technological partnerships of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena enables them upon completion of their studies, introduced in many different areas of the automotive industry and ambitious engineering projects as is the case the project RoboRace "says Patricio Franco, deputy director of the School of Industrial.
