Within the schedule during these days it is developing to commemorate the Day of the Armed Forces, yesterday afternoon, May 24, a solemn flag hauled down on the esplanade of Alfonso XII pier was performed.
The event was attended by the mayor of Cartagena, Jose Lopez, and the rector of the Polytechnic University, Alejandro Diaz;
and the president of the Regional Assembly, Rosa Peñalver, among other civil and military authorities, in addition to the public that gathered at the port to watch the event.
In this way, the armed forces continued with varied and informative cultural events being organized in the region of Murcia to publicize and promote the work of the institution in defense of the interests of Spain.
The celebration of Armed Forces Day dates back to 1978 and is a festival traditionally held in the last week of May which seeks the integration of society with their armies.
