In order to collect nonperishable food and medical supplies for the Syrian people, the City of Cartagena has joined the campaign Cartagena Refugees to allocate humanitarian aid to this cause.
The purpose of this case is to try to alleviate suffering and improve, as far as possible, the conditions of life of people suffering from the war in Syria, for which in recent days have installed a number of collection points they have managed to raise 22 pallets with an approximate amount of 11 thousand kilos of humanitarian aid.
Last Friday, May 13, left the municipal facilities Security Park two loaded trucks were delivered to the Association Help the Syrian people who will be responsible for trasladaros as usually do.
Those food items for various reasons, could not be sent as close expiration, perishable goods, dairy or inappropriate packaging, they have been delivered to the Huertecica and El Buen Samaritano.
This campaign is an initiative of the Multicultural Association Averroes young Arabs from Murcia (AMAJAM), in collaboration with the Association Help the Syrian People (AAPS), the coordinator of NGOs in the Region of Murcia, Laong Together, Platform Help to Refugees in Murcia (PAREM), and has received the support of Cartagena delAyuntamiento of the University of Murcia, Campus Mare Nostrum and the SEUR Foundation, among others.
Councillor for Social Services, Carmen Martin, thanked all cartageneros their contribution and support for this charity order in which the City Council has overturned paying a municipal warehouse and support the work of Social Services staff as they still remain to collect some products of various health centers in the municipality and individuals.
Although the collection campaign has ended, those interested in further collaboration in sending non-perishable food (no pork) and medical supplies, can do so through the Assistance Association Syrian People.
