The VIII Municipal Petanque Championship, organized by the Federation of Associations and Centres for the Elderly in Cartagena and Shire in collaboration with the City of Cartagena, held its closing ceremony yesterday, Monday, May 16.
Councillor for Social Services, Carmen Martin, accompanied by the president of the Federation of Seniors, Maria Beteta, coordinator of Social Services, Damián Pérez, and municipal officers, were responsible deentregar trophies to the top finishers and detail all participants in the Senior Local Barroi de la Concepción.
The championship has had a total of 18 rounds played during the months of March, April and May.
The teams that obtained the best classification in general were alums, Barrio Peral A and Barrio de la Concepción, who received plus a trophy, a gift to all players of the groups that have taken part in the league, and a diploma as recognition of their participation at all presidents of the clubs Seniors have been represented in the championship.
Carmen Martin welcomed this mode, in which each year more players involved, has become a classic activity in the annual program, encouraging everyone to spread it and continue with it, since it has many benefits physical and social level, also highlighting the rise of women's teams in the competition.
Meanwhile, Maria Beteta thanked the support of the City of Cartagena in all activities organized by the Federation of Elders.
