The area councilor Quality of Life, Francisco Calderon, with Minister of Family and Equal Opportunities, Violante Thomas, this morning visited the facilities of the Social Center Caritas San Diego to see first hand the work done by the more than fifty volunteers They are serving different projects.
The council and the minister have been accompanied during the visit by the pastor of the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and coordinator of the activities of Caritas Social Centers in San Diego, Joaquín Ferrando.
Currently, Caritas Social Center San Diego, with the collaboration of the City Council through the Department of Social Services, has a dining room serving Monday through Friday to 93 families in conditions of marginalization and social exclusion.
Ferrando has stressed that the aim is that these children can make one meal a day with a complete and balanced diet for your age.
It also provides an incentive for parents to take their children to school, because in order to make use of the dining room, it is essential to present proof of attendance to the center by the same teachers.
For his part, Calderon stressed the work done by volunteers working in the Social Center assisting people who come daily, ensuring that the municipal government will continue to support this work.
Caritas Social Center San Diego emerged in 1995 as a measure to the marginalization that existed in the historical district.
The restaurant, located on the square of Jaime Bosch, has four plants where various activities take place.
Foremost among other plans and performances, school support services, child room, workshops for women and youth occupational classroom.
Similarly, the Social Centre has the youth association One more step, participating in activities organized by the T-LA Program (Alternative Leisure) of the Youth Council.
