Between strings and brass reveals the best young classical musicians in the Region (06/05/2016)

The best kept secret in the nineteenth edition of the contest between strings and brass, organized by the Youth Council of the City of Cartagena, was revealed in tonight, Friday, May 6, in which a professional jury has been responsible for choose the winners of the modalities woodwind, brass wind, string, piano, singing, guitar, percussion and flamenco.

The total number of participants this year has reached 162 youth and after numerous auditions and performances of each category, the Auditorium and Convention Center The Batel has hosted the celebration of the closing ceremony.

The awards ceremony has had a great reception from the public and with a magnificent Jose Antonio Orta as driver of the gala, with a jovial and entertaining to keep the interest of the attendees attitude.

In the first part of the evening it was enjoyed a splendid performance as a soloist of Pedro Fernandez Millan, virtuoso cello, along with the Chamber Orchestra of Cartagena, led by Andrés Pérez Bernabe, performed the concerto for cello and orchestra in C Major Hob J.Haydn VII.

Then, there was the presentation of diplomas to the finalists and award winners, new this year that have been livening up this part several students of the Conservatory of Cartagena who have participated in the competition, but chose not to be finalists.

Each performed a piece at a time that was producing the awards ceremony.

The components of this performance were Miguel Albaladejo (clarinet), Mariano Garre (horn), Clara Sanchez (cello) Saul Hernandez and Cristina Pagán (pianists), Ana Ros and Angela Abraham (flutes), Jesus Cabrera (guitar) and Alba Alarcón ( flamenco) guitar.

Ortas also invited M.ª Angeles Bres Garcia, director of the Conservatory of Cartagena, to accompany him at the time of reading the finalists and prizes awarded.

the director general of Cultural Heritage, Maria Comas, and the director of the Conservatory of Music in Caravaca, Antonio Andreu.

FINAL SURPRISE AND COLOPHON GALA

After this event, it took place as a surprise to all attendees in the form of performance where four percussionists, students of the Conservatory of Music in Cartagena: Isabel Anastasia Matthew Otto, Laura Navarro García, Pablo Ruiz Vega and José Luis Sánchez Fernández;

they played between one other piece called Short Circuits Lalo Davila, playing with light and drumsticks in a very original way, also accompanied by Paco Alcaraz, his professor of percussion.

The culmination of the gala put the Symphony Orchestra of the Conservatory of Cartagena with pianist Juan Francisco Otho, led once again by Andres Perez Bernabe, who made a wonderful interpretation of the Piano Concerto No. 2, Op. 18 in C m S. Rachmaninoff;

and already out of the program, the director of Orchestra impressed the entire audience with a piece of the soundtrack of the film The Lord of the Rings Symphony Orchestra touched Conservatory of Cartagena with singer Maria Dolores Cayuela.

Having completed and this nineteenth edition of the contest, the organization is already thinking about how to celebrate in style and with occasional novelty the twentieth anniversary of between strings and brass.
