The Councillor for Education, David Martinez, presided at the Tuesday afternoon the extraordinary meeting of the Municipal School Board, in which the composition thereof, where for the first time be represented associations of parents who are not federated determined and, therefore not included in the FAPA (Federation of Associations of Parents of Students).
Thus, the full Board is comprised of the mayor David Martinez, who is the president, and as members are the council of the Culture, Ricardo Segado, being the mayor of Social Services, Carmen Martin, his deputy, a representative of the administration education, a director of public center, a private center director and a representative of Administration and Services (PAS).
For the parents, there are 8 representatives: 5 of the FAPA, one of FAMPACE, one of CONCAPA and a representative of other non federated or belonging to other federations AMPAS.
Teachers are also represented through their unions, two of CCO, two of ANPE, two of FSIE, one of SIDI and other STERM, while students has four representatives of high school students.
Secretary of the Board is responsible for the Department of Education, Maria Luisa Saura.
The aim of the Municipal School Council, which is scheduled to meet more often, is to encourage debate on the functioning of the schools in the municipality giving greater participation to the various sectors represented in this body.
HOLIDAYS FOR NEXT YEAR
One of the issues discussed at the meeting of the Municipal School Board was the approval of the calendar of non-school days for schools next year, which, for cycles, Primary and Special Education, will begin on September 8, 2016 and will end on June 23, 2017;
for secondary school and Adult Education, will be from September 15 to 22 June, and for Training, from 19 September to 19 June.
In addition to national, local and Autonomous Community parties, the three non-school days approved by the School Board will be on 31 October, the day of All Saints;
on 9 December, the bridge of the Constitution and the Immaculate Conception, and, new, Shrove Monday, February 27, so that on Thursday, Carthaginians and Romans, September 22, proposed by the city, finally it has been left out to be fourth in the voting.
Finally, the Christmas holidays from 23 December to 6 January and Easter, from 10 to 17 April were fixed.
