Petunias, marigolds, sunflowers, cherry tomatoes or beans are some of the plants to be sold from today until next Friday in Cartagena for a good cause: earmark proceeds to non-governmental entities that are related to agronomy money.
This is the V Flower Week, in which 50 volunteers from the delegation of students from the School of Agricultural Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, DEETSIA work in collaboration with the City of Cartagena, selling these flowers prices of between 1 and 3.5 euros, plus 5 euro for every purchase they give a cut flower or a bag of potatoes.
The mayor, Jose Lopez, and Deputy Mayor, Ana Belén Castejon, have come in the morning to learn more about this initiative, in which the 1,500 plants that have grown these volunteers since February, will now be sold, allocating the proceeds two NGOs: first to the Iter Association of Murcia which develops projects of development aid directed to the group of children through the implementation of agricultural projects.
Second, the NGO Agronomists Without Borders, which aims development cooperation in the pursuit of quality of life of populations dependent on agricultural activities among others.
As indicated by Miguel Angel Casanova, V organizer Flower Week, have received throughout this first morning many visitors, including tourists from cruise ships arrive in the city, sunflowers being the most sold plants.
In addition, facing Mother's Day, she reported that they have cut to give plants.
Until 20:00 pm both today, Friday 29, as tomorrow, Saturday 30 April, they will be installed solidarity selling these flowers in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento.
Monday will be in the Plaza del Icue and the remaining days until Friday 6 May will be in the morning in the Campus Alfonso XIII and evening in the Plaza del Icue.
