Popular parliamentary group has managed to enlist the support of the Regional Assembly to the file that is already on track to achieve the Cartagena Declaration as "Cultural Landscape of Humanity" by UNESCO.
The proposal, as noted by the deputy Elena Ruiz, highlights the exceptional value of a Historical and Cultural Landscape constituting the Royal Arsenal and the defensive system of the Bay of Cartagena.
Ruiz has made supporting this candidacy in the debate of a motion filed by Citizens pursued by the declaration of World Heritage for the archaeological site of Cartagena, an initiative which in his words, is to recognize to join the work of these years in the recovery and enhancement of archaeological heritage has also been recognized and awarded by organizations and institutions of national and international prestige.
PP deputy stressed that this is a much more mature and advanced application that has a work started in March 2014 and brings together the City of Cartagena, the Navy, the Polytechnic University and the CICOP Foundation.
Elena Ruiz, this proposal has a transnational spirit and considers that the decision today of the Assembly is very important for the Regional Government of referring the case to Heritage Council and from there rises the Government of the Nation before it arrives at the hands of the World Heritage Committee.
