The municipal MC Group requested, on Friday, that the full City Council of Cartagena rise to the Regional Assembly's request that the agency urge the Ministry of Health to strengthen services provided by Santo and Real Hospital of Charity.
MC meets, thus the commitment made by the mayor of Cartagena, Jose Lopez (MC) who, during a visit to the charity last April 12, expressed the intention to bring the municipal plenary a motion to urge to the Ministry of Health to strengthen services Hospital.
That day, Lopez asked the Ministry of Health that "Cartagena look at Charity Hospital, in dual pathology center and hyperbaric chamber."
And it is during the visit of the mayor to Hospital 'Los Pinos' Jose Lopez confirmed as the hyperbaric chamber the hospital, interior 1976, unique in the region and has been providing service for four decades, it has become one of the victims of the policy of cuts that in the field of Health, has been promoting the regional administration.
This has caused a significant decline in service, drastically reducing the number of treated patients.
It should be remembered that the hyperbaric chamber can be used to treat a host of diseases related to trauma, burns, psychological dysfunction, hearing or vision.
Similarly, Lopez found that the lack of support from the Ministry of Health to the treatment center dual pathologies, designed to address the recovery of patients with psychological problems and addictions, has resulted in the closure of this service since late 2015, despite being properly equipped in terms of infrastructure is concerned.
This reduction has been accompanied patients, on the other hand, a significant number of layoffs of staff of a charity linked historically to the city of Cartagena and its neighbors, who have contributed significantly over time maintaining them.
As Lopez said during his recent visit, "knowledge is a matter of Hospital mandatory for all Cartagena".
It is for all these reasons, so the mayor asked that day to the Ministry that "look Cartagena and the Hospital of Charity", a request that MC will do next Friday in another attempt to dignify health care, in addition to reaffirming the commitment of the municipal group in defense of quality public health.
Similarly, MC wants to praise the excellent work done by the staff of the Hospital of Charity, serving center who can not be treated elsewhere, an issue that deserves the greatest recognitions.
