Councillor for Social Services and Social Mediation, Carmen Martin, has been one of the participants of the closing of the Technical Seminar Challenges, progress and accounts in building the intercultural city, organized by the Council of Europe and the Basque Government it was held these days in the Bake Eder Getxo Center.
Throughout the event they have been analyzed and identified the challenges and advances in intercultural practice of municipalities that is working for a clear commitment to coexistence and social cohesion.
It supposes a reflection of the importance that at the moment of economic crisis, changes in the reception of immigrants and immigration profiles to which they must cope cities.
The day had several political representatives of the Basque Government, as its director of Family Policy and Community Development, mayor of Vitoria, in addition to councilors, technicians municipal, regional, researchers Social Services Castellon, Getafe, Getxo and Cartagena social and university professors, who have completed a set of 90 participants from different cities of Spain.
Among the conclusions drawn is defined to be working from the municipalities in the management of religious diversity, the role of education in preventing discrimination and the value of communication to promote laintegración, issues that Cartagena is already driving with a clear commitment to managing diversity that characterizes our city.
