The Governing Board approved the catalog of the top 20 rural roads to finance its recovery with European funds (20/04/2016)

The Local Government Board, which met this morning under the chairmanship of Mayor, Jose Lopez, has approved the first phase of cataloging rural roads as before European funds to finance conservation and recovery step.

It was the only issue on the agenda of the meeting has been extraordinary.

The proposal, which affects the first 20 roads with a total of 340 had been made by the Deputy Mayor, Ana Belén Castejon.

Under a cooperation agreement signed last summer between the city and the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, staff Agronomic School of Engineering are conducting research and cataloging of these roads.

The municipal network of rural roads is a basic infrastructure that enabled rural development in the District of Cartagena, facilitating access to farms and promoting communication in the rural environment.

It has also contributed significantly to the social and territorial cohesion, as well as having a direct multiplier effect on economic activity in rural areas.

Currently, these infrastructures support new social demands related to leisure, tourism and leisure activities.

These roads are public goods local use and conservation and recovery is supported by European funds.

The last call for such aid, which want to opt the city of Cartagena, took place this April, one of the requirements cataloging these roads.

The catalog of these first 20 which are located on the west side, includes information on the physical characteristics and their state, out in order to bring the proper conservation of the same.
