The Polytechnic University of Cartagena UPCT, in collaboration with other European universities, working on a project that encompasses social technologies of robotics and computer designed to meet emotional mood and health of dependents.
The aim is to use a robot to accompany in the homes of elderly people living alone to detect and help them overcome feelings of depression and inactivity.
UPCT representatives met yesterday, April 14, with the Councillor for Social Services, Carmen Martin;
coordinator of Social Services, Damián Pérez;
and technicians Unit Seniors, to present this project they are working and which is based on the use of artificial intelligence and bioengineering to improve the quality of life of older people.
By the University robotics doctor and researcher UPCT Oscar Martinez Mozos were present;
with Maria Jesus Legaz Mellado, technical office UPCT European Programmes.
This project is financed by European funds and the work will last about three years.
The Department of Social Services City of Cartagena participate in this project by providing access to older people who are willing to collaborate in the implementation of this program.
