The viecalcaldesa, Ana Belén Castejon, together with the Councillor for Social Services, Carmen Martin, and representatives of Comisiones Obreras, namely the coordinator of Regional Administration of Murcia, Francisco Saura, and the district secretary, Juan Pedro Martinez, have appeared at wheel press to denounce the closure of the only window of the IMAS in the city of Cartagena by the Autonomous Community.
According Castejon, suppression decreed by the regional government service specialized register in the office of the Alameda de Santa Anton, where Unit Assessment and Guidance Murciano Institute of Social Action is, will mean that users can only submit documentation in the register of Building Forum, and whereas before, such documentation once registered passed directly to said unit for processing, now the roles once submitted are sent to Murcia, and from there sent back to the office Cartagena, with the consequent loss of time and efficiency.
This is a measure that we consider unjust and evidence disproportion with respect to the municipality of Murcia, assured Deputy Mayor, the mistreatment of Cartagena is evident if we consider the number of inhabitants and two specific data, Cartagena has a general officiates care citizen (in Building Forum) compared to nine that are in Murcia, and three offices specialized register (two of Health in the Rosell and St. Lucia, and employment in the SEF) while the capital account twenty.
For its part, the mayor of Social Services reminded the big problem that this closure means for users of Social Services of the city and the entire region, since the office also attended the inhabitants of other municipalities in the Campo de Cartagena ( Los Alcazares, Cartagena, Fuente Alamo, Mazarrón, San Javier, San Pedro del Pinatar, Torre Pacheco and La Union), which involves thousands of people a year who recorded there all the necessary documentation for the procedures related to disability and the law of dependency.
A closure also the service provided to these citizens to stay for only registration office worsens Building Forum in the city center, with the attendant problems of accessibility and where the staff caring for these people not it is specialized and are overworked, which have denounced the representatives of Comisiones Obreras, expressing their discomfort and rejection.
Currently there are three units IMAS Assessment and Guidance in the Region of Murcia, the Cartagena, one in Murcia and another in Lorca, and the only one that has been suppressed associated service record is that of Cartagena.
Given this, the Deputy Mayor announced that the City, through the Department of Social Services, the regional government will go to ask for explanations and demand a solution.
