A simulated fire in the building premises La Milagrosa, home of the rector of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) has served this morning to test the Self-Protection Plan of the building and evaluate the training of emergency teams.
The drill ended with the evacuation of the building in which at that time employed about 150 people.
Once implemented the protocol, following the team's performance pickets and first aid, and verified the severity of the fire, the Vice Chancellor for Infrastructure, Equipment and Sustainability, José Pérez, as Head of Emergency, has ordered evacuation teams eviction of the building while 112 were alerted, who previously also had been warned.
The drill, organized by the Department of Occupational Health and Safety, has enjoyed the cooperation of the firehouse City of Cartagena, which has also made available to the university a totally harmless generation system water vapor to simulate smoke produced during the fire, and the Municipal Police, which the University wishes to acknowledge their participation.
The Prevention Service UPCT has also coordinated action by different observers, whose findings will detect errors that have been committed during the drill in order to improve the training of emergency teams.
