Notepads, pens, files, folders, reading books and crayons are, among others, the materials that make up the loot La Botica del Libro has brought together through the collaborative project carried out with the People's University.
Several students in workshops and classrooms creation of this institution produced artistic works that were exhibited in solidarity unamuestra under the title Art by a pencil to invite people to take them in exchange for a barter material for college or a donation in cash .
The delegate of Culture councilor, David Martinez, was in charge this morning to deliver this collection in a ceremony that took place at the Centro Cultural Ramón Alonso Luzzy.
The sum, plus the collected materials, achieves a check of 369.40 euros for members of the Botica del Libro, which were represented by a grateful and committed Marina Campos, president of the association.
This nonprofit organization is developing a program of social and cultural integration through the promotion of reading, and Campos said that most of these resources are aimed at the kids in the neighborhoods of Lo Campano and José María Lapuerta.
This was the first edition of this show of solidarity and hopefully not the last, said the mayor, who also noted the tremendous work that makes the association with children who need it most.
The event was also attended by the director of the People's University, Miguel Navarro, who highlighted the work of students who have participated with their work in the sample.
With this solidarity and cultural and creative outreach activity, UP wants to raise awareness about disadvantaged situations that occur in our immediate environment and at the same time, cooperate for visibility.
