The Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) joins the initiative Earth Hour 2016. This Saturday, the 19th, will turn off the interior and exterior lighting of buildings and campus from 20:30.
With this symbolic initiative, the UPCT shows its commitment to environmental protection and awareness of controlling CO2 emissions, according to the Vice Chancellor for Infrastructure, Equipment and Sustainability, José Pérez.
Earth Hour, promoted by World Wide Fund For Nature (WWF), started in 2007 in Sydney, Australia, as a symbolic gesture of the fight against climate change.
Ten years later, it has become the largest environmental mobilization campaign in history.
This action is intended to prevent the planet increases its temperature and irreversible damage to nature, the economy and welfare of living things occur.
The Vice President for Infrastructure, Equipment and Sustainability invites the university community to join this initiative making or suggesting the blackout in their homes or in places where they are.
